Mosquitoes can catch the West Nile virus by feeding on dead birds, and can then spawn in standing water which can come from rain and other sources.

The best thing to do is to protect yourself to try to avoid the West Nile virus.

The first and most important thing is to rid of any standing water around your house.

To protect your own body better, it is important to wear bug spray, and clothing that does not expose too much of your skin, expecially at dusk and wan.

Those most at risk include young kids and the elderly.
