U.S. researchers have confirmed in a new study that a new symptoms plus blood test helps greatly with early-stage ovarian cancer detection..Washington (ChattahBox) – U.S. researchers have confirmed in a new study that a new symptoms plus blood test helps greatly with early-stage ovarian cancer detection.

The study was carried out by researchers and looked at a total of 254 healthy women who were at high-risk of ovarian cancer, as well as 75 women who needed surgery to remove a diagnosed ovarian cancer.

The new test, which works by detecting a tumor marker, as well as any new symptoms experienced by the woman, improved early-stage ovarian cancer detection by 20%

The American Cancer Society has stated that 21,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, with15,000 women dying from the disease.

The study has been published in the journal Cancer.
