House Passes Bill To Postpone Cut In Medicare Doctors’ Pay

As of July 1, doctors who care for Medicare patients were going to see a 10.6% pay cut.  The House passed a bill on Tuesday to postpone this cut..Washington (ChattahBox) – As of July 1, doctors who care for Medicare patients were going to see a 10.6% pay cut. The House passed a bill on Tuesday to postpone this cut.

The bill was passed on Tuesday by the House and blocks the pay cuts, instead taking a cut from private health insurers.

The House passed the bill with a vote of 355-59, despite President Bush threatening a veto.. Supporters include doctors, hospitals, and pharmacists.

The Senate will now have the option also vote in favor of the bill.

There are over 600,000 doctors in the U.S. caring for Medicare patients.
