Iowa Reaches Record High With Confirmed STD Cases

The Iowa Department of Public Health has revealed that there has been a record high number of STDs confirmed in the state...Chicago (ChattahBox) – The Iowa Department of Public Health has revealed that there has been a record high number of STDs confirmed in the state.

The record high for STDs in Iowa is due to increases in the cases of Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis.

In 2007, it was noted that 67% increase in the reported cases of Chlamydia has taken place over the past decade.

74% of these were of people aged 15 to 24 in Iowa.

A 19% increase was seen over the last 10 years for Gonorrhea, with 60% of these cases from people between the ages of 15 to 24.

Last but not least, Syphilis cases increased by 52% over the last 10 years, and were most prevalent in those aged between 35 to 55.
