A new study has revealed that more than 10% of all middle-aged adults, who are considered healthy, suffer from silent strokes.Boston (ChattahBox) – A new study has revealed that more than 10% of all middle-aged adults, who are considered healthy, suffer from silent strokes.

The study was carried out at the Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts and looked at the MRI scans of 2,000 people with an average age of 62.

A silent stroke, also known as a silent cerebral infarction (SCI), was seen in 10.7% of all healthy middle-aged adults.

The amazing part about this study is that the testing on the adults all came back healthy, with no signs of the silent stroke being seen.

This does not mean that they are not damaging though as they can block blood from going to the brain, leading to dementia, or a bigger more severe stroke.

The study was published in the American Heart Association journal Stroke.
