Federal health officials who are continuing to look into the salmonella outbreak, are leadins towards the idea that tomatoes may not be the source after all.. ..Washington (ChattahBox) – Federal health officials who are continuing to look into the salmonella outbreak, are leadins towards the idea that tomatoes may not be the source after all.

The outbreak has already sickened over 800 people according to the CDC, sending many to the hospital.

The FDA has been looking closely at places such as Florida and Mexico, trying to find the source of the salmonella tainted tomatoes.

The thought now though is to be more open-minded, as the souce may not be tomatoes at all.

This comes as many grocery store chains and restaurants across the U.S. have pulled tomatoes from their shelves and menus.

Officials are stating that since vegetables are usually always together, the possibility is there that the salmonella outbreak could have originated in a different item.
