This gene, allele 334, could explain why some men are so afraid of marriage, and are unable to commit to a woman for a long timespan.

The new gene that they found acts as a receptor to the hormone known as vasopressin.

For the study, researchers looked at a total of 500 couples who were together for a minimum of five years, and were questioned on their relationship.

What they found was that men who had two copies of the gene were far more likely to have problems with their relationship.

These men had a 34% chance of having marital problems, compared to 15% for men who had no copies or just one of the gene.

The study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,
