For the study, which was funded by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, researchers looked at monitoring devices from Medtronic Inc, Abbott Laboratories, and DexCom Inc.

They wanted to see how effective the monitors were in helping people with Type 1 diabetes and looked at 322 patients in total.

Type 1 diabetes is a disease which keeps your body from being able to produce insulin.

Insulin is important to the body as it is needed to convert sugar in the blood into energy.

Adult patients 25-years old and up saw a 0.53% reduction in average blood-sugar levels when using the monitors.

Researchers stated that the monitors proved to be a huge help to adult patients, while the same was not for the younger groups from 8 to 24-years old.
