Heart Attack Patients Face Harm From Air Pollution

A new study has shown that air pollution can impact heart attack patients in a negative way.....Washington (ChattahBox) – A new study has shown that air pollution can impact heart attack patients in a negative way.

Researchers from the Harvard Medical School in Boston carried out their study on 48 patients, by looking at their electrocardiograms.

All of those who took part in the study were recently in the hospital for a heart attacks, or similar heart problems.

They found small particles from air pollution have a negative impact on the heart.

The air pollutioin causes changed in the electrical conductivity of the heart, known as ST-segment depression.

The air pollutioin comes from cars, trucks, industry, and as the air pollution increases, so did the ST-segment depression.

The study was published in the journal Circulation.
