Those who have 2 or more copies of the FTO gene are believed to be at an increased risk of being obese.

A new study though has found that the impact the FTO gene has on our body can be controlled with exercise.

University of Maryland researchers looked at 704 Amish men and women to see how exercise would impact what the FTO gene does to our body.

Researchers found that the less active group in the study, with the fat gene, saw an increase in BMI.

This was not the same though for the high activity group.

The group that took part in exercise was able to kill off any impact the FTO gene had on their body.

The study, published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
