AstraZeneca Gets Bad News From Alzheimer’s Drug Trial

Drug maker AstraZeneca Inc. and Targacept Inc. have reported some bad news in regards to their new Alzheimer's drug.......Boston (ChattahBox) – Drug maker AstraZeneca Inc. and Targacept Inc. have reported some bad news in regards to their new Alzheimer’s drug.

The new Alzheimer’s drug was recently placed in a midstage trial, where it unfortunately did not do so good.

The results from the trial, according to the companies, have come back as inconclusive.

The drug was put up against another drug for Alzheimer’s, Aricept.

The new trial, on 567 patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, showed no benefit from the new Alzheimer’s drug candidate after 12 weeks.

The companies plan to announce future plans for the drug in the coming months.
