In the past, the best way for many to rid of obesity was to simply have gastric bypass surgery.

This may no longer be the case though, as this new procedure gives the same benefit, but is far less invasive.

Researchers led by Dr. Aravind Arepally of the John Hopkins University School of Medicine found this new method which  stops the hunger hormone.

They have managed to develop a new procedure known as gastric artery chemical embolization, or GACE.

GACE works by injecting a chemical into blood vessels, and suppressing the hunger hormone.

It has proven to be quite successful in pigs, reducing the hunger hormone by 60%..

The study has been published in the journal Radiology.
