The autism study was surrounded by a great deal of controversy as it was going to see if chelation could help with autism.

The chelation therapy works with the amino acid EDTA, and the hope was that it could help treat autism.

A year ago though, the amino acid EDTA, which is man-made, was linked to brain problems in rats.

This sparked controvsery, which has caused the study to be put down before it even got started.

The money which was going to go towards the study will go to other autism research.
