FDA Will Look Into Safety Of BPA In Plastic Yet Again

September 22, 2008

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will once again look into the safety of bisphenol A, or BPA, in plastic. Washington (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will once again look into the safety of bisphenol A, or BPA, in plastic.

Last week, a study was released in the Journal of the American Medical Association, which looked at over 1,500 adults.

Researchers found a link between high exposure to BPA, and an increased risk of developing heart disease, or diabetes.

The FDA has stated that BPA is safe, but will bring in another outside panel to give a second opinion on the safety of the chemical.

It is clear the debate is far from over, and more research is needed to be done.
