Abortion Rates In The U.S. Decline, Hit New 30-Year Low

A new report from the Guttmahcer Institute, a nonprofit organization, has found that the abortion rate in the U.S. has declined yet again, and has now hit a 30-year low.<br /> .......  .Washington (ChattahBox) – A new report from the Guttmahcer Institute, a nonprofit organization, has found that the abortion rate in the U.S. has declined yet again, and has now hit a 30-year low.

Teen abortion rates have continued to decline over the years, and are now at their lowest point ever.

Overall, abortion rates continue to decline.  The rates have dropped from 29.3 abortions per 1,000 women in 1981 to 19.4 in 2005.

Teen abortions saw the biggest decrease, as the abortion rate for women under 20 in 1974 was at 33%.

This compared to 17% in the year 2004, a major drop.

In girls under the age of 18, the rate dropped from 15% in 1974 down to 6% in 2004.

Abortions are still highest in older mothers, and minorities.
