Healthy San Francisco Gets Approval In Court Of Appeals

October 1, 2008

A Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a plan known as Healthy San Francisco.....San Francisco (ChattahBox) – A Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of a plan known as Healthy San Francisco.

A lower court decision was overturned this week as the three-judge panel came to a unanimous decision in favor of the universal health care plan.

Those opposed to the plan believe that it would force businesses to take on a financial burden they may not be able to pay.

The Golden Gate Restaurant Association sued the city over the plan, stating that employers need to have a choice in terms of providing health coverage.

This marks the first universal health care plan that will go into effect in the U.S. requiring companies with a minimum of 20 workers to provide health care.
