The study compared how effective computer-aided detection, or CAD was in reading mammograms, compared to a regular radiologist.

The study was led by radiologist Fiona J. Gilbert of the University of Aberdeen, who looked at more than 31,000 women.

In the study, half the women had their mammogram read by one radiologist, as well as CAD, and the other half had it read by two radiologists.

The computer-aided detction was found to be as good as the two radiologists, as it was able to detect 198 out of the 227 cancer cases, compared to 199 out of the 227 for the two radiologists.

The study was presented at the National Cancer Research Institute annual conference.
