CDC Says 20% Of HIV Infected Americans Remain Unaware

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a new report, stating that there are now 1.1 million people in the United States infected with HIV/AIDS.  On top of that, 20% of these who are infected with HIV do not know they are actually infected...Boston (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a new report, stating that there are now 1.1 million people in the United States infected with HIV/AIDS.  On top of that, 20% of these who are infected with HIV do not know they are actually infected.

The CDC released the new report this past week, showing that HIV prevalence has increased by 11% since the year 2003.

This is due to the fact that more people are living with HIV, with better treatment and care.

On top of that, overall diagnosis methods are improving.

They found that 46% of the cases in the year 2006 were among black Americans, with 18% infected due to drugs, or contaminated needles.

48% of the men infected were said to be gay men.

The scariest number though is that 20% who are infected are totally clueless about their infection.
