The rescue package approved late last week, which was aimed to help the financial markets, also helped expand mental health coverage.......Boston (ChattahBox) – The rescue package approved late last week, which was aimed to help the financial markets, also helped expand mental health coverage.

The rescue package was revised after the first proposal was shot down by the U.S. House of Representatives.

One of the changes was the addition of the mental health parity bill, protecting it.

Now, following the terms of the $700 billion financial markets rescue package, mental health coverage is expanded.

Health insurance companies are not going to be able to drop any benefits from those on plans, and can also not discriminate against mental health patients in any way.

The rescue package was signed by President George W. Bush late last week.
