Researchers have found that reading the right book can help inspire obese children to lose weight, and become healthier.................Washington (ChattahBox) – Researchers have found that reading the right book can help inspire obese children to lose weight, and become healthier..

Obesity experts from Duke University carried out their research on a group of obese girls.

They had 31 severely obese girls aged 9 to 13 take part in the study.

All were in a weight-management program at Duke Children’s Hospital.

These girls read the novel Lake Rescue, which featured an  overweight kid withself-esteem problems, etc.

A separate group of girls read Charlotte in Paris, which did not have an overweight kid.

A third group did no reading at all of any book.

The obese girls who read Lake Rescue were found to reduce their weight, and BMI in bigger numbers..

The group t hat read Charlotte in Paris saw their BMI decrease by .33.  The groupu that read Lake Rescue saw their BMI reduced by .71, a major drop.

The girls who did not read saw their BMI increase by.05.

The findings of the study were presented at the Obesity Society’s annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
