The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that kids need to double their daily intake of vitamin D.....Washington (ChattahBox) – The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that kids need to double their daily intake of vitamin D.

The leading group of pediatricians in the U.S. have increased the daily recommended vitamin D intake from 200 units daily up to 400 units.

The lack of vitamin D in kids is due to the fact hat milk consumption is down quite a bit.

These new recommendations will likely mean that kids will have to take vitamin D supplements.

Getting enough vitamin D can result in major health benefits.

This leads to overall disease prevention, muscle growth, stronger bones, etc.

These new recommendations were released today at a conference held by the American Academy of Pediatrics in Boston, MA and will be published in the November issue of the journal Pediatrics.
