The new study was released this week by Dr. Paul D. Sorlie from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.

For the study, they looked at data from 30,000 people from National Health and Nutrition Examination surveys in 1988 to 1994, and again in 1999 and 2004.

They found that the rate of high blood pressure among Americans spiked considerably in the more recent group compared to the older group.

High blood pressure spiked from 50.3% to 55.5% among Americans in the newer group from 1994 to 2000, showing quite a big rise.

So what can Americans do to reverse this trend?  Researchers believe obesity is to blame for the rise in blood pressure.

The best way to fight high blood pressure is with a healthy lifestyle.

This means a healthy diet and a good amount of exercise.

Medications are also now more available to help with high blood pressure as well.

Hopefully in the next report, this trend can come to and end and the numbers can begin to go down.
