The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging more kids than ever this year to get a flu shot................Washington (ChattahBox) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging more kids than ever this year to get a flu shot.

The CDC expanded the recommendation for those who should get a flu shot this year.

They have expanded it so that all kids from the age of 6 months and up are recommended to get the vaccine.

In the past, kids this young were not part of the group recommended.

Children can receive either a flu shot, or the nasal spray flu vaccine.

If the child is between 6 months to 9 years, and has never received the vaccine, two doses are needed.

Every year, 20,000 kids under the age of 5 go to the hospital due to the flu.  Last year, 86 kids died due to complications from the flu.
