There are 47 million people in the U.S. without health insurance, something both Barack Obama and his Republican rival John McCain have aimed to fix.

Obama has made it clear though that he is the candidate to fix this the right way, by pushing employer-based health care.

Obama has stated that all companies big enough will have to offer health insurance to employees.

If they choose not to then they will pay a fee to the government who will offer plans.

Small businesses are said to be exempt from this proposal.

The McCain plan is very different, offering a $5,000 tax credit to families and a $2,500 credit to individuals to let them buy their own health insurance.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that The Lewin Group projects the Obama plan to cut the number of Americans without health insurance by nearly 30 million by 2010, compared to 21 million for the McCain plan.
