The type of blood protein has been linked to inflammation in the past, as well as heart attacks and strokes overall.

The new study was led by Dr. Borge Nordestgaard of Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark.

The idea behind the study was to see if the C-reactive protein had any impact on the development of heart attacks or stroke.

Due to past studies, many drug companies have started to produce drugs to lower levels of this protein.

This may not be needed though following the study on 50,000 people in Denmark.

Researchers found no difference in heart attack risk between those with higih levels of the protein, and lower levels.

The study was published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
