Bayer Under Fire For Yaz And Yazmin Risks

September 27, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – Bayer HealthCare has been served with 74 lawsuits in yet another controversy over their birth control pills, Yazmin, and Yaz.

According to the lawsuits. 74 women developed severe health problem from taking the oral contraceptives, and they are alleging that the Yazmin and Yaz brands of pills increase the probability of strokes, heart problems, and blood clots.

The allegations are to be put up against the Bayer-funded studies that the company says prove that the risk of those health concerns are at the same level as with older birth control pills.

This is the second major controversy to hit Bayer. The FDA has accused them in the recent past of deliberately misleading the public with their advertising, which makes Yazmin out to be a major lifestyle pill.

They have also accused them of having poor health and safety standards at one of their plants, and have investigated them as a consequence.

Bayer has denied all claims, and says that they will be fighting these lawsuits with everything they have. They have also said that they have complied with all FDA regulations and answered all questions by the agency.

But whether or not such methods will be effective now that the allegations are out is yet to be seen.
