Woman Opens Up About The Horrors Of Her ‘Vagina Falling Out’

November 9, 2009

Washington (ChattahBox) – A 39-year-old school psychologist on MomLogic.com has released a story about her struggled with, as she put it, her ‘vagina falling out’.

Allison Henry was 10-weeks pregnant with her second child when the trouble started.

She felt a sharp pain during some gentle prenatal yoga, which felt “like someone rammed a pitchfork up my butt, so I stopped. It was an intense, sharp pain, but it passed,” she explained.

Later that day, she began to bleed heavily, and went quickly to the hospital, fearing a miscarriage. Doctors were unable to find out what was wrong.

She bled through the majority of the pregnancy, and her son was born 6 1/2 weeks early, though he is happily a healthy little boy now.

Thinking that all the trouble was due to a hematoma outside her placenta, doctors let Henry go home.

Over the course of the next several months, something strange began to happen. A flat surface began to form near the labia of Henry’s vagina.

“There wasn’t really a hole there — it felt kind of flat. I thought it was a little weird, but I had a 19-month-old and a newborn to care for, so I brushed it off. I wasn’t bleeding, I wasn’t in pain, so I didn’t address it.”

It continued to get worst, and she continued to ignore it, partly from embarrassment, and partly from being a busy mother with two kids.

“One night, I took a look down there, and it was like my insides were on the outside and they were coming out. I knew I couldn’t put this off any longer. I went to my doctor and said, ‘My vagina is falling out of my body!’,” Henry Recalls.

“I was referred to a pelvic floor specialist. She took a look and said, ‘Holy crap — your vagina is falling out of your body, and it’s dragging your bladder and your rectum along with it!'”

Henry has suffered from what is known as a vaginal prolapse, a rare, but serious, condition in which the uterus, vaginal walls, colon, bladder, and intestines shift and begin pushing down. In severe cases, they will protrude from the vaginal walls.

It was several surgeries later that things went back to normal, including a painful labia reduction.

“All of ‘Dr. 90210’s’ patients who say it doesn’t hurt are lying. I’d rather get my teeth pulled out than do that again!”
