No Social Security Raise For Second Year In A Row, But Are The Dems To Blame?

October 11, 2010

U.S. (ChattahBox Political Commentary) – Over the last several hours I have been seeing status messages from the completely ignorant pop up all over social networking sites, saying things like “Social Security COLA won’t be raised…AGAIN! F***king Dems”, and other such pearls. But what they fail to realize is the Democrats have nothing to do with it.

The truth is, Congress has nothing to do with the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), of which has now been skipped for the second year in a row. It is the Consumer Prices Index that dictates when (and how much) SS goes up. This means that it doesn’t matter if you are on the Left or the Right, it makes no difference…it isn’t a political issue.

And yet, people are going to use it for the same irrational arguments that have become all too prevalent in today’s voter discussion. It is the same kind of nonsense that leads people to blame Obama for the recession, when reports have all shown it began in 2007 and ended the year Obama took office.

It is the same kind of stupidity that causes people to expect a super fast change to this country, and then leads them to believe that extreme political figures like the Tea Party could do anything but subject a people to an insane ideology.

Everyone needs to take a step back and look at where these decisions come from. If you are still pissed off, so be it. But make sure you are pissed off at the right people.
