They have found that corrosive, acidified ocean water is now just 20 miles off the shore.

Researchers have found that the acidified ocean water is now just 20 miles off the shore from Canada, through California and down to Mexico.

Co-author of the research, Burke Hales stated that “The water that will upwell off the coast in future years already is making its undersea trek toward us, with ever-increasing levels of carbon dioxide and acidity.”

Once these levels continue to increase, this could cause severe and long-term damage to the ecosystem.
