The NASA Mars Lander is not having trouble gathering the soil, as it has managed to do that successfully to this point.

The problem is that it is unable to deposit the soil into its instruments needed to analyze it.

The Mars soil may not have enough fine grain material to actually fit into the instruments and be analyzed properly, putting the mission in jeopardy.

NASA is hoping for a solution so that they can fully analyze the first soil sample from Mars.
