New Bionic Fingers Give Real Hope To Amputees (Video)

December 9, 2009

U.K. (ChattahBox) – British company Touch Bionics is already well known in the field of prosthetic research, after introducing their product i-Limb. But their new bionic fingers, ProDigits, are their first product to offer full and real dexterity to allow the patient more normal hand function.

What makes these so special is the fact that they are custom made to fit in with each patients needs. Once each finger has been crafted, it is connected to the socket.

The nerve endings in the remaining part of the fingers transport signals to create movement. This movement can also be sparked by a small touch pad.

The flexibility and dexterity of the fingers has come remarkably close to life. The video below shows the potential for normality that ProDigits has provided.
