Giant Iceberg Headed Towards Australia Sparks Shipping Warnings

December 11, 2009

Australia (ChattahBox) – An enormous iceberg, described as ‘twice the size of Manhattan”, has been discovered off of the coast of Australia, making its’ way towards Western Australia.

Neal Young, a glaciologist working for the Australian Antarctic Division spotted the monster of a glacier floating towards Australia.

“Icebergs do come from time to time and they can be very big, but it can be a long time before we spot one – so it’s really a once-in-a-lifetime sighting,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

However, he has made it clear that he doesn’t expect a collision, which could cause severe tremors through the region. He believes that it will break up long before.

In the meantime, shipping alerts have been released for the region.

Hmmmm. That’s a big one. I wonder what Glenn Beck would have to say. How about: “See, how can there be global warming when we see icebergs bumping into Australia?”
