The New England Patriots opened up against the Kansas City Chiefs in game 1 of the NFL season on Sunday in Foxboro, MA.

Things did not go well though, as Tom Brady went down early.  While completing a pass to wide receiver Randy Moss, Tom Brady was hit on the knee by Kansas City Chiefs’ safety Bernard Pollard.

He was hit with 7:27 remaining in the first quarter.  He was immediately helped off the field, and was not seen again for the rest of the game.

The 31-year old Tom Brady is set to have an MRI on Monday.

Early reports though from WEEI.com state that Tom Brady has a torn ACL.

If this turns out to be true, and he does indeed have a torn ACL in his left knee, Tom Brady will be done for the season.

Upon Brady going down, Matt Cassel took over, and led the Patriots to a 17-10 victory over the Chiefs.
