The Tampa Bay Rays are now going to their first World Series in franchise history to face the Philadelphia Phillies.

They were led by a brilliant performance from starting pitcher Matt Garza.

Garza threw 118 pitches in eight innings to beat the Red Sox 3-1.

This broke the 9-game winning streak the Red Sox had in ALC elimination games.

In the process, Garza was named the ALCS MVP, allowing just two hits and one run with nine strikeouts.

The Rays became just the third team to go to the World Series after 10 or more consecutive losing seasons.
