March 19, 2009

(ChattahBox)–More bad news apparently for Cleveland Brown’s wide receiver, Donte’ Stallworth, who is expected to be criminally charged soon, because of a deadly Miami accident this past Saturday. The Miami Herald and WSVN-TV are reporting Thursday that unnamed sources say Stallworth’s blood-alcohol level was between .08 and .16. The legal limit is .08. Stallworth was driving his a Bentley in Miami, early Saturday morning when he struck 59 year old, crane operator Mario Reyes as he was crossing the MacArthur Causeway to get to a bus stop.  Twenty-eight year old Stallworth was reported to be openly distraught at the scene of the crash and cooperated with the Miami police, submitting to standard drug and alcohol testing. Stallworth hasn’t been charged yet, he could now be facing a DUI manslaughter which carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.

Stallworth, a former player for the New England Patriots, recently signed a seven-year, $35 million deal with the Cleveland Browns. Stallworth had a previous run-in with Miami police in 2006, when he was arrested after a traffic stop, but he was not prosecuted.

Hope he does hard heavy time for his crime. Don’t let him whine about “addiction” and just end up with rehab and probation. He chose to drink and drive now let him pay for it.
