Allen Iverson Sore Loser? Banned From Detroit Casinos

April 14, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Detroit Pistons All Star point guard, Allen Iverson is supposedly banned from two downtown Detroit Casinos for loutish behavior and throwing temper tantrums when he loses. The Detroit Free Press recently reported Iverson, long known for his contrary behavior, reportedly was rude to other players and waitpersons, and threw chips or cards at the dealers when he lost. The two casinos, MGM and Greektown, don’t want him back at their tables.

Eleven-year veteran Iverson always seems to provide drama on and off the court. This isn’t the first alleged incident of Iverson misbehaving at a casino. He reportedly was banned by Bally’s Park Place in Atlantic City in 2004, for urinating in a trash can in front of staff and other patrons.

Perhaps Iverson is taking out his frustration these days at the gambling tables, for being deactivated by Piston’s coach Michael Curry from playing the remainder of the season. After Iverson returned to play after a long absence from a back injury, he was put on the bench, something that didn’t sit well with the malcontent All Star.

Joe Dumars Pistons President of Basketball Operations, later announced after Iverson publicly complained about playing from the bench, that Iverson’s 2008-2009 season was finished.

Iverson will be a free agent next year, and some wonder how much interest the thirty-two year old veteran will generate.

Despite Iverson’s attitude problems, he sure is an exciting player to watch when he is firing on all cylinders. With a fifth all-time career scoring average of 27.1 points per game, if he can avoid further injuries, he should be wowing his fans for another season or two with another team.

Meanwhile, Iverson should take up another hobby besides gambling.
