Brett Favre stays retired – won’t be joining Minnesota Vikings

July 28, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Discretion being the better part of valor and such, I think Brett Favre has made a wise decision today and I hope he sticks to it, for a change. The long in the tooth, all-star quarterback has reportedly decided to remain retired rather than playing this season for the Minnesota Vikings, coach Brad Childress has announced. After hemming and hawing again about whether he was healthy enough to play, he decided he didn’t feel like he could physically play at a level that was acceptable.

Favre’s decision is timely as the Vikings’ players must officially report to camp by Friday. With the matter closed for now, Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson will go to camp to compete for the starting quarterback job.  Still it’s a letdown for many in the Black and Blue NFC North division who looked forward to seeing  Favre playing for the Vikings against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, twice this season.

Can’t say that I am all that disappointed in Favre retiring…. though, like last time, this could just be another move to distract people while he looks to other teams for one good enough to take him on. Hopefully this is for real and he goes back to being an average man, if he can do that.
