Nike says it has no contract deal with Michael Vick

October 1, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Contrary to initial reports, Nike says it has not signed a new endorsement deal with former spokesman Michael Vick, now of the Philadelphia Eagles. The shoe and apparel maker dropped the ex-Atlanta Falcons star quarterback as an endorser and pulled his products from retail stores in 2007 after he was charged with bankrolling and running a dogfighting ring. One of Vick’s agents, Mike Principe, announced that the newly-signed Eagles QB had signed a new deal. But apparently Nike just agreed to supply him with free products, as they do “with a number of athletes that are not under contract.”
