Damn Yankees Win Another World Series

November 5, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Congratulations to The NY Yankees who won their 27th World Series Thursday, after beating the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to 3 in Game 6. Phillies pitcher Pedro Martinez didn’t have his typical command or velocity and managed to barely last four innings, giving up four runs and three hits to the Yankees. A record crowd of 50,315 people, flashed yesterday’s New York Post poster of Martinez in a diaper and chanted “Who’s Your Daddy?”

Hideki Matsui, who hit .615 for the series, also hit a homer and six RBIs in the clincher, which tied the single-game record was named MVP. Andy Pettitte pitched almost six innings for the Yankees to his 18th career postseason victory, and left the game to a standing ovation. After the win, Alex Rodriguez wept tears of joy, moved no doubt, not just by the win, but because he will no longer have to answer questions about choking in the post-season. The Yankees were stacked this year after signing Mark Teixeira ($180 million) and CC Sabathia ($161 million) this past free agent season.  A ticker tape parade for the Yankees is scheduled for Friday.
