LeBron James Goes Live on ESPN to Announce Team Choice

July 7, 2010

(ChattahBox)—-NBA All-Star LeBron James is a man who believes in his own hype. With a nickname like “King James” it’s no wonder. But to be fair, the superstar forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has lived up to the hype and then some, with multiple MVP and All-Star awards. And his Nike contract has earned him millions. So, what is a superstar free agent to do, as the entire world waits for James to chose the tastiest deal dangled in his direction? Announce his decision live on ESPN in an hour-long extravaganza of course!

James became an official free agent on July 1. And the speculation about where he will play next season has been burning up the sports media all day and all night.

When James opened up a Twitter account this week, the newest rumor was that he planned to announce his team choice with a humble tweet. But no, it’s ESPN.

So, where will James go? Will he stay in Cleveland and wear his new number six? Or will he head to the neighboring New Jersey Nets and play for a Russian and say yes to Jay-Z? The Miami Heat or the New York Knicks?

According to ESPN, James’ decision is top secret.

“He visited with six teams — the New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls — last week at his business offices in downtown Cleveland.”

The LeBron James free agent special is tentatively scheduled for Thursday at 9 p.m. EST. Proceeds from commercial sponsorships will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club.
