Google has an answer to this though with new technology that will blur the faces of anyone photographed.

Google is planing to start a global roll-out of Street View, and in order to do this they need to make it more comfortable for users in terms of privacy.

They will be implementing this new technology starting in Manhattan which will blur the faces of anyone caught on camera.

In Europe, Canada, and Australia there is a far greater sense of privacy in public places, causing Google to make this fix.

Reports state that this new technology is working very nicely thus far.
