Microsoft signed a deal with One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) to bring Windows to the XO Laptop..Boston (ChattahBox) – Microsoft signed a deal with One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) to bring Windows to the XO Laptop.

The deal between Microsoft and OLPC is huge for the group hoping to sell the XO Laptop to developing countries and their governments.

The expectation is that by this coming September, the XO Laptop with Windows will be ready to release, and will be priced at around $200, with a similar price point to the Linux-based model.

OLPC Chairman Nicholas Negroponte believes this will give the group a huge jump in sales from developing countries, as they have only managed to sell 600,000 of the XO Laptops thus far.

They hope the Microsoft deal will mean a brighter future for the XO Laptop.
