Borders Launches Its Very Own Online Store

Borders Inc. has broken away from Amazon and has launched their own e-commerce site, Borders.com..Boston (ChattahBox) – Borders Inc. has broken away from Amazon and has launched their own e-commerce site, Borders.com.

The new e-commerce site is a change for the company who has been outsourcing their online sales to Amazon for quite some time now.

The new site will feature a great many things including Magic Shelf Technology and Borders Media, which will focus on bringing a store-feel to the site.

The e-commerce site set up by Borders will feature 2 million books, 400,000 new CDs, and 100,000 new movies.

“Today is another milestone for our company as we launch Borders.com, a site that is much more than just another place to shop on the Web — it is a source of information and entertainment that brings a real bookstore experience to life online,” Borders Group CEO George Jones said in a statement.

Borders has also signed a deal with Alibris.com for rare and out-of-print books.
