NASA Launches New Gamma Ray Telescope, GLAST

NASA has launched a brand new gamma ray telescope called the Gamma-ray Large Area Telescope, also known as GLAST..Orlando (ChattahBox) – NASA has launched a brand new gamma ray telescope called the Gamma-ray Large Area Telescope, also known as GLAST.

The new telescope blasted off on top of a Delta 2 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at around 12:05 p.m. EDT on Wednesday.

The telescope, GLAST will make its way 350 miles above Earth.

GLAST, which weighs in at 5 tons, features two main telescopes which will scan the sky for gamma rays.

NASA believes that the telescope will help us see new places in the universe that cannot be seen by the human eye.
