The idea behind the AP meeting is to create standards for online use of AP stories by bloggers. The AP is taking this step so that their content is protected, and so that bloggers can know what they can and can’t use basically.

The initiative by the AP has sparked quite a lot of criticism towards them by the blogging community, for obvious reasons.

The AP though argues that they are paying for this content, which is then in turn basically just stolen and used for free.

This has not stopped many groups in the blogging community from fighting back with AP bans, and other moves.
