FCC Approves Extra Time For Sprint Nextel To Move Spectrum

June 20, 2008

The FCC has announced that they have approved Sprint Nextel Corp. to give them more time to adhere to the necessary spectrum move..New York (ChattahBox) – The FCC has announced that they have approved Sprint Nextel Corp. to give them more time to adhere to the necessary spectrum move.

The original deadline set by the FCC was on June 26 for the company to give up their spectrum which they run part of their network off of.

The problem is that the trade for its spectrum to a public safety spectrum will not yet work.

This is because the public safety spectrum is not yet ready for use. If the move was made right now, the company may not be able to provide services for its 16 million users.

Sprint Nextel can give up the spectrum within a 2 month window of the public safety spectrum being ready.
