Wii Review

Big Beach sports continues what was started when the Wii was first released but this time with some beach games and tiki torches. There are 6 different games to play, beach volleyball, football, soccer, frisbee golf, bochee ball and cricket. A couple of these games can make for some nights of good fun but not all of them deliver.

You can play with up to four players for a competitive experience or co-operative game which is good in my house since there are four of us to play. You could also play as a single player in a tournament mode where you pit your skills against those of the computer.

As for the games and gameplay it leaves a bit to be desired. I found the frisbee golf and bochee ball to be the only games that truly work the way the designers intended. The volleyball is difficult to control as is the football game. With the soccer game there is a lot going on and I think there could be value here with more gameplay but at least initially it turned me off because of how much there is to do and remember. Cricket I must say I am not familiar with the rules and unfortunately this game did not do much to help me understand.

The characters in the game are truly unique beach going sorts and the ability to create my own player was nice if it were easier to do. I found it very cumbersome going through this process. The characters continue what we are used to seeing on the Nintendo Wii games, big headed fun characters.

Graphics: 7.0 The characters and beach goers watching are fun and it works because you know it is a Nintendo Wii game.

Audio: 6.5 Nothing special here, just background music.

Gameplay: 5.0
With four out of the six games and character creation difficult I have a hard time giving it anything higher.

Replay Value: 5.0
Again since there are only two games I see worth coming back for it is hard to give this game anything higher.

Final Score: 6.0
