Microsoft has had a hard time selling the Xbox 360 in Japan, and has been trying to make it more appealing to the consumers there.

The price drops could help that, as they stated that the Arcade version of the Xbox 360 will now be priced at around 19,000 yen ($182).

This makes it cheaper than both a Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3.

It was also announced that Microsoft will release a 60 Gb Xbox 360 for 29,000 yen ($275). Both price cuts will begin sale on September 11, 2008.

Microsoft has also stated that they would recommend to retailers that the prices of Xbox 360 accessories be cut in Australia.
