Microsoft is getting set to launch their own version of the Apple App Store for their Windows Mobile platform with SkyMarket.......Washington (ChattahBox) – Microsoft is getting set to launch their own version of the Apple App Store for their Windows Mobile platform with SkyMarket.

Microsoft is hard at work on the new Windows Mobile addition of SkyMarket.

The application store is reportedly set to launch with Windows Mobile 7 in early 2009, and will replace the current third-party app store used, Handango.

There is no telling how many applications it will feature, or anything of that nature, but reports state Microsoft is trying to go all out.

This comes as Microsoft continues to expand their digital stores, as they already have Windows Marketplace, Xbox Live Marketplace, etc.

Whether or not SkyMarket can allow Microsoft to have the same success as Apple with the App Store will remain to be seen.
