Now you can fish in your living room!!  In Rapala’s Fishing Frenzy we learn the greatest technology in video games has evolved to where we can catch big mouth bass on the Wii.  Using the Wii remote and Nunchuck controller we mirror the movements necessary to fish off the side of a boat and try to lure all different kinds of fish into a fate of being your dinner.

There are a number of options available as the different ponds and lakes you can fish in.  Once you select your body of water of choice and begin to drive the lake looking for the best spot to cast from your boat.  The actions necessary to cast and subsequently reel in your catch are a bit difficult to learn and control, but when they work it is satisfying to reel in your catch.

The scenery is fantastic and very realistic.  The game brings 100’s of the fishing hotspots to your living room.  From time to time when you have catch in hand you will hear a voice tell you better next time or try again when the catch has not yet gotten away!  This can be very disconcerting to the learning fisherman.

Once you have mastered the skills necessary to bring in the big one you can test your talents against some of the top anglers in the world and compete in tournaments to earn bragging rights and fish trophies!  And just think of the fish tales you will be able to tell your friends!

Graphics: 7.0
Lots of cool sights and very well done realistic graphics of the fish and scenery

Audio: 6.0
A bit annoying to hear “almost there” or “you’ll get it next time” when the fish has not yet gotten away!  Music is simple.

Gameplay: 5.0
Very difficult to learn to drive the boat and cast the rod.

Replay Value: 5.0
If you successfully learn the skills necessary and can actually compete in the tournaments there is some replay value.

Overall: 5.5

Help please. I cannot cast. Is there a diagram anywhere that shows the correct buttons to push and a diagram to make sure that I have the rod put together correct. I can sit, stand, drive the boat, etc. but can not cast the rod. Please email me back if you can with a diagram.

You hold the nunchuk perpendicular to the remote |- and move the knob on the nunchuk towards the remote. While continuing to push the nunchuk knob up, raise the remote vertically and flick. You reel in by rotating the nunchuk. You land by pressing A on the remote and pulling up. When you reel in move the remote from left to right to relieve tension.

    To Cast:
You push ‘up’ on the analog stick (thumb stick) on the nunchuck. That puts you in ‘Cast’ mode. Then, while holding it up, you can use the Wiimote to cast just like you would a real fishing pole. (Pull back and swing it forward.) Once you cast, you can release the thumbstick.
